Destination Gambia is one of the countries that houses an array of wildlife and endemic species it is still untapped, and it needs to be explored. In the destination, you can have an authentic experience, and enjoy nature and also, different cultures.

One of the places for tourists interested in wildlife tourism to experience face-to-face with nature and wildlife is the Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Center also known as Baboon Islands. It was established in 1979 and is home to the Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Project (CRP).

The place was established for the care and reintroduction of orphaned and unwanted chimpanzees. Wild chimpanzees disappeared from The Gambia in the early 1900s, as of September 2019, there are now over a hundred chimpanzees living free on 3 islands in 4 separate social groups known as – the Dash family, Pooh family, Hesus family, and Jumbo family.
