Heritage Management Organization To Open Office And Training Centre In Barra

Heritage Management Organization will today, Friday, 27th October 2023 open its new office and a heritage training center in Barra, North Bank Region (NBR).

This new office space is part of Heritage’s HerMaP Gambia Program co-financed by the European Union, it aims to bring together local communities to give birth to new ideas and projects, network, and learn about cultural heritage management best practices. It will also serve as a training centre for Heritage workshops and those of our partners. It is also hoped that eventually, the space will act as a tourist information centre for the North Bank Region, run by the community and serving as a practice laboratory and incubation space for cultural projects.

Among the expected esteemed guests to grace the opening and address the gathering today are representatives of the EU delegation to The Gambia, Dr.Adama Bah, Director of Institute Travel and Tourism of The Gambia (ITTOG), Aba Hydara – Barra Community Committee Member, IsmailaSambou – Director of Gambia Youth Chamber of Commerce (GYCC).

HerMaP Gambia is a program aimed at developing the business skills of heritage and cultural managers to enable them to establish and better support heritage and cultural enterprises. Supporting The Gambia’s heritage sector will promote community solidarity and provide high-quality employment opportunities for local talent.
The program is co-financed by the European Union with funding partly matched by the UN Economic Commission for Africa. It is being realized in partnership with the NCAC.
