The specialized digital photography artist will not only exhibit his work at the exhibition but also was selected to serve as one of the Guest Mentors during the period of the exhibition that will start on 6th May and end on 10th of June 2023.

Mr Sallah, among the 33 participants for the 9th edition of the exhibition, is the only selected artist from The Gambia to this year’s Exposition Artistiques De Saint-Louis and he’s attending for the second time.

At the 8th edition of the exhibition, Mamat Sallah exhibited two digital photography artworks. Among other shows he has attended within the sub-region his works are always unique thus there is no one yet in this circuit of Digital Photography.

He says, “I have been interacting with different artists and many Gambian photographers but most of them are more like commercial photographers who are mostly taking pictures at ceremonies and so on.”

He described the selection as another great opportunity for him as one of the Guest Mentors to share his work experience with other professional and upcoming artists and those visiting the exhibition gallery.

However, Digital photography/art, he explained is a form of having different pictures reassemble to fit what you want to express or the message you want to pass across to people, “it is a new dimension of photography and is more an abstract which has given me space to fit into any fine arts platform.”

The Artistic Routes of Saint-Louis is organised annually by the Ndar Creation Association, it will take place at the Senegal Research and Documentation Center (Ex IFAN de Saint-Louis) from the 6th of May to the 10th of July 2023.

NDAR CREATION association is a cultural association created in 2011 in Saint-Louis in the north of Senegal by young visual artists with the mission of promoting arts and culture in the northern region, but also in Senegal and the rest of the world.
