Gambia Ambassador To India Receives Gambian Cultural Delegation

The Gambia ambassador to India, His Excellency Mustapha Jawara, on Friday, 9th February 2024 received the 20-man Gambia cultural delegation attending the Surajkund International Cultural Festival and Fair in New Delhi, India.

The Gambia cultural delegation which comprises Kora, Harlem, Riti, tamal, players, dancers, musicians, goldsmiths, and fashion designers was led to the Gambian Embassy in New Delhi by Mr. Sanna B Jarju, performing officer at the National Centre for Arts and Culture (NCAC).

The Gambia delegation was organized by the National Centre for Arts and Culture upon the invitation of the government of India to the government of the Republic of The Gambia to strengthen the bilateral cultural ties between the government of the Gambia and India.

It can be recalled that the Gambia cultural delegation left for India on the 2nd of February and will be returning to The Gambia on the 19th of February 2024 after sixteen days of their performance at this great Indian cultural festival.

Mr. Sanna B Jarju, on behalf of the National Centre for Arts and Culture, thanked the ambassador for the great welcome and support to the artists while describing him as a true Gambia diplomat who is always supportive of his countrymen/women in India.

At the occasion, Ambassador Mustapha Jawara thanked the artists for their excellent performance so far at the festival which has really been the song’s mesmerizing cornerstones of the festival. Noting that all the Gambia performances were met with rapturous acclaimed by the audiences.

Ambassador Jawara also highlighted the solid bilateral cultural ties between The Gambia and India while thanking the NCAC and the Minister of Tourism and Culture, Honourable Hamat NK Bah for playing the role of cultural diplomacy in helping to strengthen the relations between the two countries.

The Ambassador also donated pocket money to the Gambian’s cultural delegation as a token of appreciation and goodwill.
